Beschreibung

Im Jahre 2007 wurde das Amphitheater von Viminacium entdeckt und in den folgenden Jahren in großen Teilen ergraben. Die Ausgräber unterscheiden 3 Bauphasen: eine erste in Holz-Erde-Bauweise, die beiden nachfolgenden mit einer gemischten Holz- und Steinbaukonstruktion. Die erste Phase wird in das 1. Viertel des 2. Jhs. n.Chr. datiert, die Aufgabe der Anlage in das späte 3. Jh.
